"Real World Web Site Management"

Kevin Cooke
San Jose Mercury

This talk will focus on how we run Mercury Center, an award-winning information service from the San Jose Mercury News. It will primarily cover technical implementation issues in managing a large, active and constantly updated presence on the world wide web, and touch on business and editorial issues related to online publishing. --- Kevin Cooke is the webmaster for the San Jose Mercury web site (www.sjmercury.com). He also is a graduate of the Berkeley School of Journalism. Kevin told me they are making money on their site -- advertising naturally. This talk will present an interesting view of a commercial web provider and the changes happening in the newspaper publishing business.
