Howard Besser teaches (**startlink**)"Impact of New Information Resources: Multimedia and Networks" (**endlink**) in UC Berkeley's School of Library and Information Studies. He works 2/3 time for the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) in Montreal, where he is in charge of long-range planning for information for CCA's library, museum, and research database. Howard (**startlink**)travels (**endlink**) a lot, but most of the traveling is neither to Berkeley or Montreal. His (**startlink**) vita (**endlink**) shows that he spends most of his time speaking at conferences, where he is often introduced ^ (**startlink**) flashy biographical sketches (**endlink**). Howard's two main interest areas are Multimedia Databases (particularly in cultural institutions) and the social effects of information technology. He is currently working on a book on Image Databases as part of the ASIS Monograph series, as well as a (**startlink**) book on the social effects of information technology (**endlink**). This set of Mosaic resources ("Impact") was set up as part of his UC Berkeley course.
