The speaker will describe a project to connect the eight elementary schools in Pacifica with an external video server for a multi-year distance-learning field trial. Each of these K-5 schools will be able to retrieve and play educational videotapes via fiber optic cables from a video library residing in Sprint's Burlingame Laboratory. The trial project, sponsored by Sprint, will include the use of SONET, ATM, video servers, video compression, video set-top and video-on-demand application software technologies.
Terry Kero is the Director of Sprint's Advanced Technology Laboratories located in Burlingame. Kero graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He is also the general chairman for the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Globecom `94 conference to be held in San Francisco November 1994.
