Introduction to Imaging Assignment
This will explain the Introduction to Imaging assignments being
done for the IS 208 UCLA course Spring 2001. This will serve as a
text for the class, explaining issues of scanning cultural heritage materials.
Because the book will be revised this summer, students will review, evaluate,
and suggest changes for the revised edition. In addition, by looking
at both the print and the Web version, students will gain insight into
what is appropriate for each delivery media, and how to use each media
most effectively.
-
due April 12: Read the print version of Introduction to Imaging
and look over the Web
version. As you read, begin the assignment due April 26.
-
due April 26: Turn in written comments about how you think
Introduction to Imaging should be changed. Note particular portions
that confused you when you first read them, and indicate what might be
done to improve these. Indicate areas that are redundant and areas
that need more depth. Note what new topics are missing and should
be added. This assignment is also a lesson in appropriate delivery
mechanisms for infomation, so be thoughtful in what you turn in for this
assignment. (For example, you might want to turn in a written narrative
critique coupled with photocopies of pages of the work marked up with additions
and corrections.)
-
due May 10: Be prepared to talk in class about differences
between the print and the Web version of this work.
